A Guide To Lang Criags

A site responsive project working at Lang Craigs a Woodland trust 620-acre site. The site is located two miles east of Dumbarton town centre and twelve miles from Glasgow. It occupies the glens of the Overtoun Burn and Garshake Burn and adjoins Overtoun Estate.

The focus of the work is based on the reshaped landscape, looking at the idea of modification and management within a natural space. As a reflection to the information that is provided about this site the artist is interested in the human interactions to the land, the idea of exploration in a place were paths are so distinct. These pathways are emplaced for the comfort and ease of navigating the space. Through reconstructing the information the artist questions the decision and freedom of navigation to understand the implications of designed routes within a ‘natural’ setting.

A brochure formed from aluminium, bound with split rings, engraved with text that conveys subverted notions to the original publication 'Lang Criags, Wild adventures on your door step’. - https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/mediafile/100757130/lang-craigs-leaflet.pdf . The artist has used these materials to represent the prominence of the manufactured materials that are apparent within the landscape.
